The Central High Atlas, unlike the Toubkal, is mainly formed by sedimentary rocks. Its heavy forms are
cut by many impressive canyons and superb inhabited Berber valleys. This section of the High Atlas
Range is certainly the largest, thus, much more preserved and less travelled.

Day1.
Marrakech
Arrival at Marrakech airport where you will be welcomed by your guide and transfer to your 3* hotel in the
medina of Marrakech, overnight on half board basis.
Day2.
Marrakech - Azilal - Rouguelt / 5h30 road transfer / 2h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 450m; loss: 100m
After an early breakfast, we will drive east via the city of Azilal. Through a high mountain road we will get to
our trek start point at Abachkou where we will meet our Berber muleteer team at 1600m. While having our
picnic all baggage and camping equipment is loaded on the mules. Off we go for an amazing eight days trek
in the Berber land. We walk through a small valley before we take a high trail leading us to our first bivouac
near the village of Rouguelt at 2000m.
Day3.
Rouguelt - Tassaout n'Oufella / 6h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 1100m; loss: 800m
Today we climb the Tizi n'Rouguelt a 2900m, on the top you can admire the superb views and the colorful
Tassaout valley. We start our long descent down to join the first villages of the Tassaout. After Tasgaiwart, we
trek up along the river to reach our camp at 2350m.
Day4.
Tassout n'Oufella - Almou / 6h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 900m; loss: 400m
This morning, we cross the beautiful village of Tassaout n'Oufella and climb the pass overhanging the
Wandrass Canyons, the scenery is just amazing! As we reach the pass, we hike across high transhumance
territories occupied by herds of goats and sheep, camp at 2800m.
Day5.
Almou - Mgoun 4068m - Ifri n'Ait Hammou / 9h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 1250m; loss: 1100m
Today is a the "challenging" day climbing the second highest range of Morocco. We will first walk up the Tizi
n'Oumssoud before we reach a first summit at 4001m. From then, we follow an amazing long crest with a
360° panoramic view till the top of the Mgoun 4068m. After enjoying a good pause on the summit, we will
make our way downhill towards our lovely bivouac settled at 2900m. (For those who wouldn't like to do the
Mgoun Ascent, they can go with the mules on an easier trail (5h walk).
Day6.
Ifri n'Ait Hammou - Ameskar / 5h30 trekking / Altitude, gain: 400m; loss: 1150m
Apart from short uphill sections, most of today is easy downhill to reach the first villages on the southern
flanks of the Mgoun. You will discover the amazing architecture of the Kasbahs and how every inch of
cultivable land is used. Camp is set near Ameskar
Day7.
Ameskar - Aguerzega - Tighanimine / 5h30 trekking / Altitude, gain: 300m; loss: 150m
An early start this morning join the Mgoun Valley, as a new road was built , we are going to use a local
minibus to avoid walking in this less interesting area for hiking. We carry on our trekking adventure from the
village of Aguerzega, and walk up the Mgoun River. As we progress, the canyons are more and more
impressive untill we reach our camp near Tighanimine at 1750m.
Day8.
Aguerzega - Imi n'irkt / 6h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 350m; loss: 150m
Again feet in the water, the flowing river of the Mgoun sculpted some spectacular gorges a real climax of the
trek! Out of narrowest part we will take an amazing handmade path to overhang the canyons from the top.
Our trek continues feet in the water and eyes contemplating these amazing landscapes until our camp near
Imi n'Irkt.
Day9.
Imi n'Irkt - Tighremt n'Ait Hamd / 6h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 400m; loss: 100m
A cool day on the trails linking Berber villages and cultivated terraces of the upper Mgoun Valley "Ouzighimt".
This day might be a good occasion to experience a mint tea ceremony in a local village. Our camp is set near
the ancient fort of Tighremt n'Ait Ahmed at 2300m.
Day10. Tighremt n'Ait Hamd - Bouguemez / 6h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 650m; loss: 1000m
Today is our last full day walk. You will climb the Tizi n'Ait Imi Pass at 2960m, from top you will admire the
enchanting green valley of Bouguemez. A zigzagging path will lead us to the village of Ait Imi and further
down our gite for a last night in the Atlas Mountain.
Day11. Bouguemez - Marrakech / 5h30 road transfer
A short walk through the intensely cultivated fields of the "Happy Valley" before we meet with our minibus. A
5h30 transfer will take us back to the animated city of Marrakech, overnight in a Riad in the medina on B&B
basis.
Day12.
Return flight
A transfer is organised from your hotel to Marrakech Airport to take your return flight.

Our trek in the Central Hight Atlas starts in the valley of Ait Boulli, from there we hike the Tizi n’Rouguelt to overhang the superb Tassaout Valley. The
following trekking day we approch tha summit of mount Mgoun to climb it from the southern Face. Our trek continues towards the superb Mgoun Valley,
we hike up the river from Berber village to another to walk the stunning Mgoun Gorges as narrow as 3 meters! Our trek carries on to the upper Mgoun
Valley to climb the Tizi n’Ait Imi. From there, we walk down to the Bouguem Vallew where our amazing trek ends.
